The Bowsaw: some people love them, some people hate them

Like the spokeshave, this tool is very useful to the chairmaker. Some people like them, some hate them. Evening classes have made me aware of this.

The spokeshave goes back a long way but they are essential for fine hand-carved work

These go back a long way and the clue is in the name. Like the feloe, wheelmakers used them. They come in different forms; the most common include some for concave work, some for straight and some for convex.

Primus Planes the definitive review

ECE make these planes and they push all the right buttons: 1) Extra tough chrome-vanadium steel plane iron that stays sharp longer than most 2) Easy adjustment 3) Light weight but quite capable of giving good results due to.. 4) Adjustable throat.

A new Multiplane is quite an investment, working with them is slower and requires more patience. So why work with them at all?

A new Multiplane is quite an investment - when I started this series of projects five years ago I was still under the spell of this tool and Stanley still had a couple of cheaper alternatives which could be recommended for grooving and cutting dados.

So whats so 'good' about Plastic Toolboxes? Here we compare them to a well made traditional wooden toolbox

Plastic Tool boxes are light-weight - they are cheap - and they look great. So what could possibly be wrong with them?
